Alexandra H. Clauss, Esq. is a Shareholder with Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC, in Burlington, Vermont. She regularly advises employers on laws affecting the workplace and best practices related to a wide range of employment issues such as performance management, separations, personnel policies and safety, with the intention of avoiding litigation before it occurs. Ms. Clauss conducts and provides guidance during workplace investigations. Ms. Clauss also represents clients in employment disputes and before state and federal administrative agencies. She was selected as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star® for 2014, 2015 and 2016 in Employment & Labor; and is a member of the Vermont Bar Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Chittenden County Bar Association. Ms. Clauss received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and her J.D. degree from Tulane University Law School. She is admitted to practice in Vermont, New Hampshire and California.|Jennifer Elder is a CPA, CMA, CIA, CFF, with a master’s in Organizational Leadership. She has worked in accounting and finance for the past 25 years in a variety of industries including manufacturing, residential construction and development, and angel investing. She spent five years in public accounting, seven years as the Accounting Department Chair of a community college, and the previous ten years in the role of CFO.Recently, Jennifer started her own business, The Sustainable CFO, providing business consulting, on-demand CFO services, and business coaching services. The company’s target market is small and medium-sized businesses looking to improve their bottom-line and overall performance.In addition to running her own company, Jennifer teaches finance in the Green MBA program at Antioch University New England. She is also a contributing writer for the National Association of Home Builders and TriplePundit, and a frequent presenter for the Maryland Association of CPA's, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Society for Human Resource Management.

Attorney Clauss will update you on key provisions and practical steps for compliance with recent changes in state and federal employment law, including Earned Sick Leave and Ban the Box.  She will review frequently asked questions about wage and hour, family and medical leave, and employee classification laws.  Ms. Clauss will provide updates on developing employment issues and trends in employment claims.   She will also provide tips for identifying areas of potential exposure in human resources scenarios encountered by businesses and non-profits.
