Jan 15, 2026 —

Legislation has been introduced in the Vermont legislature to include the additional pathway for licensure as H.707 sponsored by Representatives Charlie Kimbell and Carolyn Branagan. Similar legislation has already been passed in over 20 states and introduced in over 10 more. Read the bill by clicking on the link below.

As a reminder, this legislation will:

  • Add a pathway to licensure for those with a Bachelor's with a concentration in Accounting plus two years of experience and passage of the CPA exam. It keeps the other existing pathways in place.
  • Provide safe harbor for any CPA license holders who have an existing license from the existing or previous pathways.
  • Update mobility to come in line with the Uniform Accountancy Act to facilitate cross-state practice while maintaining accountability to the Board of Accountancy.
